In May, I taught printmaking to Grade 3 students selected from elementary schools across North Vancouver for their interest in art. Together we explored watercolour monotypes and collagraph prints, with the students creating a variety of images by printing the different plates separately and together. Centered around the theme of spirit animals, students learned about shape, texture, colour and composition as well as reverse image printing and ghost prints by representing their chosen animals in various landscapes. A final exhibition was held in the Gordon Smith Gallery showcasing their efforts and terrific results!
